For everyone is the aim of the Boat Safety Scheme ensuring the inland waterways are safe and a joy for all who use them both on and off the boats.

 

 

 

The scheme

 

Fire Extinguishers and Escaping

 

Risk based on the potential of dangerous occurrences and the unfortunate events having occurred with the intent of removing the dangerous elements in and around the boating industry .

Prevention and safe exit routs avoids injury in any fire situation. Limited space on board clearways is of the utmost importance manned with a correct and working fire extinguisher to aid escape.

 

 

Fuels

 

LPG

 

A main cause for concern in filling, storage, leakage and usage reaching their flash point, vapour/air mixture.

Being heavier than air will fall accumulate in low level pockets lurking ready for that inevitable stray source of ignition.

 

 

Electricity

 

Onboard Appliances

 

 

Safety in the event of failure of any of the appliances, gas flame shutoff devices, carbon monoxide detectors, electrical faults fire and smoke detection.

 

 

Electrical Engines

Prevention of spillage of toxins oil based produces and debris into the water.

Pipework

 

Diesel being transferring from pumps and containers evaporate gasses wafting about in the wind looking for that source.

Fuels anywhere containers have to be both secure and fit for the purpose and the correct one for the fuel type.

 

Conveying fuels have to be free from damage, leaks and have to be visible for inspection.

 

 

 

 

Heating

 

 

 

 

Equipment from fuels or electricity danger considerations, leaking connections, damage to the conveyors.
